it's crazy that the Bible actually predicted the future and the only people that can't see it are the people that say they would kill to defend it

451

u/Moist_When_It_Counts 27d ago

More likely the Bible’s authors were writing from a place of “this shit here happens a lot, and is likely to keep happening”.

So kinds predicting the future if we consider any trendline analysis to be prophetic.

Now that i think about it, i’m calling my analyses the prophecy from now on and Excel the scrying stone

Time is a cycle, doomed to repeat itself with a different cast of characters unless we as a collective identify the pattern and break it over our knee.

we can all predict the future if our predictions are based on current human behavior. Evolution is painfully slow, and we can confidently say that 1,000 years from now, there will still be hateful people, idiots, selfish corruption in government, poor people, and war.

Idiocracy was written by Mike Judge, and was shockingly accurate. He wasn't a prophet, he was the creator of King of the Hill

u/TitleProfessional103 26d ago

A brilliant satirist.

30

u/olivegardengambler 27d ago

Yeah he wasn't a prophet, but when you're an entertainer, especially a comedian, your job is to have your fingers on the pulse of society and to determine what's going on and comment on it in a way that makes people laugh.

8

u/thoover88 27d ago

The Simpsons have accurately predicted things almost to the very detail. When Don Mattingly was suspended from play because his sideburns were too long. The Simpsons episode where Mr Burns stacks the company softball team had already been written and produced beforehand. It only aired days later. In the episode, Burns tells Mattingly that he can't play with his sideburns too long.

Absurdity happens in real life, so when a satirical show goes with the absurd, the future is likely to also be absurd.

5

u/onAPieceOfToast 27d ago

Are they predicting our future or are they writing it

7

u/thoover88 27d ago

The episode was written and ready to air when it happened. So the episode aired after it actually happened but it was already in the episode before that. This according to people that make the show so take that for what you will. Bit they've also predicted plenty of other things. Look it up

174

u/troymoeffinstone 27d ago

To be fair, the only people who have read the Bible are con artists and people who don't believe in the Bible.

42

u/sgsteel55 27d ago

I literally stopped believing after completing the bible cover to cover. You get such a different view of it reading straight through instead of cherry picking and making up all sorts of interpretations.

15

u/AdolfsLonelyScrotum 27d ago

You didn’t even skip all the “begat”-ing?

9

u/sgsteel55 27d ago

Nope. I was locked up At the time and had nothing better to do. I counted the generations to laugh at how silly it is to believe so few generations of man lived from our supposed creation to when the other stories started. I now know Indian people that have things like recipes, furniture designs, and all sorts of cultural things much longer than that old testimant timeline.

6

u/AdolfsLonelyScrotum 27d ago edited 27d ago

Yeah, as an Aussie I can say with pride that there have been people living here continuously for at least 10 times longer than the Ken Ham types think the world existed. At least 65,000 years…and that’s the lower end of the range.

Edit (hit reply too soon). Well done for getting through it. Do you happen to remember how many “generations” from Adam to Noah / Moses / Jeebus?

3

u/sgsteel55 27d ago

76 freakin generations from Adam to Jesus. Like wtf is even that!?!?

4

u/AdolfsLonelyScrotum 27d ago

Bollocks is what it is..
Unmitigated bollocks. Utter nonsense.

They predicted people would false worship and that they were not true believers.

30

u/Albertagus 27d ago

The Bible was written over the course of 1000 years, maybe more. Its not prediction, its reflection. A documentation of human nature. And even now, worshipping the cross and Jesus' image is still going against Jesus' teachings. The "true believers" of Christ today would be the same types of people he warned against. Its was never intended to be about images of God and angels in robes.

28

u/IJustSignedUpToUp 27d ago

When you mention to them how most of their most strident beliefs weren't even part of Christianity until the first Council of Nicae some 400 years after Christ's deaths, they ask "What's that?". No biggie, just where the 100+ different JC clubs had to get on the same page about their supposedly divine religion. Christmas, Easter, the entire concept of the holy Trinity....just basically most of what you get the vapors about.

They're willfully ignorant of the history of the book they've devoted their entire belief structure to, and how, just over the last 200 years, it has been changed by men looking to co-opt it into saying their particular power grab is ok by Uncle JC.

8

u/PattyPoopStain 27d ago

Combined with what is going on in Israel, the apocalypse described in revelations is alarmingly similar to what we're seeing now. Next step is for all the Christians that pretend to care about antisemitism to watch their god smite 2/3 of jews on earth as they applaud.

7

The current global status guo is actually strikingly in-line with the apocalypse if you view Trump as the antichrist, especially with everything going on in Israel. I'm not religious at all, but if I were, I would honestly think it was the end.

You know, this whole Trump cultism came on so insidiously that this just seems like a joke.

But if you had told me 15 years ago that people were seriously this devoted to a U.S. president, I'd be legit scared we were headed to the Twilight Zone or 1984.

These people are absolute freaks and their kids and grandkids will remember it and have no respect for them.

42

u/Johnnygunnz 27d ago

That's if their kids and grandkids aren't completely brainwashed into their cult. Many will be.

5

u/Available_Weather_22 27d ago

A lot of their kids and grandkids WON'T be speaking to them at all.......

21

u/Cyrano_de_Boozerack 27d ago

15 years ago, parents were sending their kids to Jesus camp where they prayed to a picture of Bush Jr.

This isn't new...it's the core GOP base...they aren't voting for president. They are voting for their holy savior.

5

u/PAYPAL_ME_DONATIONS 27d ago

One of my first girlfriends, her house had an entire hall... not filled with family photos... not filled with plaques or tokens of achievements... it was a hall dedicated to Jesus and George dubya Bush.

10

u/gnumedia 27d ago

If anyone has ever wondered what happened to the kids from the Children of the Corn movie, when they grew up. This picture really makes me uncomfortable, seeing how ghoulish they look. It’s so wild to me, how they have no kind of self awareness.

32

Most of the time when they speak, it feels like lies coming from a grifter who knows they are lying. They don't care what they say, and will say anything to win. But with Greg Kelly, I think he's just actually insane.

4

u/Snoo_63187 27d ago

They know they are lying. They've always known. They are still playing from Reagan's playbook of lie to the misinformed except now we have ways of finding out the truth in our pockets. Sadly most of their followers have been lied to that the information that is the truth is out to misinform them.

I know she has always been a huge success and exceedingly popular. But I don’t ever recall Taylor Swift getting this much media coverage until the conservative movement made a much bigger deal out of her.

60

u/SteelyDan1968 27d ago

All because she said was to vote. And her fans took it as a challenge. And they did.

13

u/BobHoskinsStuntDoubl 27d ago

I think they just oppose anything that gets in the way of advancing oppression. And diverting attention from the real topics like this is the best they can come up with.

6

u/PAYPAL_ME_DONATIONS 27d ago

Greg Kelly: "People have raised Taylor Swift up to an idol.  This is what it looks like.  It's wrong.  In fact, if you look it up in the Bible, it's a sin!  At least I'm told it is, having never read the book.  In other news today, God's new chosen one, who He chose to lead us into a glorious future, Donald Trump, praise be upon him, blessed the state of Ohio by allowing them to bask in the radiant glory of his glorious radiance, and spoke at a rally on Saturday, where Donald Trump, glory upon him, spoke his wise and blessed words to the masses, allowing them to be blessed by his blessed wisdom."

Ya know if there is a God. Not saying there is, but if there was, I bet they're close to saying "ok this shit's getting too deep" and turn that fucker into a pillar of salt.

It’s telling that he has to explain to his “Christian” viewers that idolatry is a sin when it’s one of the 10 Commandments. That’s how little American Evangelicals actually know about the Bible

This is from Republicans Against Trump, are they not against Trump partly because of him being raised to idolatrous levels?!

2

u/rveb 27d ago

Why they only ever pointing fingers at things they are actively doing themselves?

Greg's mouth must be regularly kissing a large diapered ass. I'm also sure Taylor Swift is actually grateful for her followers. She would turn them off if she shot someone on 5th Avenue. Trumpanzees would wonder why the victim got in the way of a bullet.

It's amazing that with literally all the world's information available at our fingertips that the human race appears to be getting dumber.
