64

u/InVodkaVeritas May 08 '24

It's pretty difficult to become and continue to be a teacher without someone else contributing to your income. Either a spouse with a second income or having family money.

Remember that teachers have to incur both undergrad and grad school expenses, as well as work for free for half a year before they get to make a very modest income.

It's not really a financially feasible career for anyone who is poor and unwed.

u/Extreme-Sandwich-762 May 08 '24

You didn't clarify where you're talking about? Not everyone on the English-speaking web is from where you live. This story is in the UK whilst pretty much all the anecdotes I come across that talk about teachers living in poverty come out of the US (and the US isn't a monolith, a lot of stuff--including high school eduction I assume--is the responsibility of local government, over 50 different jurisdictions).

4

u/mercurialpolyglot May 08 '24

Yeah, there’s some places in the US where you can be a teacher and have a pretty decent life. It’s so funny, the salary of the teacher is often proportional to the ranking of the school system. It’s almost like paying teachers fairly is a good thing actually.

41

u/[deleted] May 08 '24

It’s basically impossible to get a luxury apartment in any decent city with bad credit. This would be a valid argument if she was balling out of control while living right beside section 8 housing though.

20

u/Kamenev_Drang May 08 '24

This is the UK, a lot of private landlords don't credit check clients due to the cost.

7

Thanks for the info. Kind of shocking to hear considering how common credit score checks are in Canada.

8

u/Kamenev_Drang May 08 '24

The thing that horrifies me about it is how paying rent, which is not a credit arrangement, can be reported on a credit report in some countries despite not being a credit arrangement and rentiers not being accredited financial institutions.

u/Mr__O__ May 08 '24

For real. Clearly the administration we negligent in protecting the welfare of their students (minors).

216

u/GoldenPigeonParty May 08 '24

Possibly the teacher is part of a union and the school could not remove them. She was technically innocent until proven guilty. Things like this are not always as obvious as they seem, at least until she gets pregnant from another child during her trial.

143

u/YumYumMittensQ4 May 08 '24

Not true, the articles about this and the trial cites that she had a previous relationship with the 15/16 year old boy and already had a sexual relationship with him and had raped him approximately 30 times in her apartment, when she was let go and suspended from her teaching role, she invited this second boy that she was grooming over, and gave him a onesie saying “I love my daddy” and notified him that she was pregnant by him. The first victim was her student, but during the time she was grooming her student, she had already successfully groomed a previous child that she got pregnant by.

There’s nothing here saying she was teaching. All we know is that she was impregnated by her pupil, and that she was on “trial”. Considering the source, it was worded the way it was purposefully. So she probably was suspended and then had sex with a now former student.

476

u/Homicidal_Pingu May 08 '24

Nope, by the law it’s impossible for women to be charged with rape in the UK. That would get you sued for Libel. Also why “groomed” is in quotation.

159

u/Generic118 May 08 '24

Its not impossible there is at least one woman in jail for it right now.

It just requires there also be a penis involved, so if a woman holds down another while she is raped she can be charged and convicted of rape for instance

282

u/Curious_Management_4 May 08 '24

Sounds like your laws need some updating since they currently dont make sense.

270

u/Brooklynxman May 08 '24

Defenders will say female perpetrators get charged with an equivalent crime with equal sentencing. That's great. But rape victims are legally not called rape victims. They don't have access to resources for rape victims. To spaces for rape victims. They might get sued by their rapist if they call their rapist a rapist because legally, they aren't, so that is libel/slander.

Society itself is telling them they haven't been raped.

Yeah, the laws need changing.

92

u/Pitiful_Bed_7625 May 08 '24

Spot on. It also has an impact on statistics which are used to inform intervention and resourcing action/policies

42

u/YooGeOh May 08 '24

It gets better. The funniest part is that even if the victim is male, the statistics will be noted as Violence Against Women and Girls

25

u/Pitiful_Bed_7625 May 08 '24

Isn’t the government strategy around this called something like ‘response to the needs of male victims of crimes typically observed as violence against women and girls’ or something utterly absurd like that?

All you have to do is throw an allegedly in there

50

u/ClentIstwoud May 08 '24

8

u/laikalou May 08 '24

A large percentage of my community actively supports a woman who raped multiple minors while working as a substitute teacher. One of her convictions was for sexual abuse of a minor less than 13 years of age. She's now been married several times and all of the marriages ended because she cheated with a much younger guy. She even married one of her victims (15 and 30 when the rapes were happening, 25 and 40 when they married) and went on to cheat on him with another of her victims who was several years younger.

Somehow, men keep dating and marrying her (probably deluding themselves that she won't cheat on them because they're just that great), and so many people in the community just love her and are super supportive of every disgusting relationship she has. It's appalling.

This is totally bullshit, where in the world can a teacher afford a luxury apartment?

15

u/pintsizedblonde2 May 08 '24

In the UK every new block of flats that goes up is marketed as "luxury apartments". It's probably a very bog standard flat that happens to be fairly new. Makes for a better headline.

34

u/Broken-Digital-Clock May 08 '24 edited May 08 '24

The term "luxury apartment" is an overused marketing term for a newish apartment that has a nice facade and a few amenities.

I'm 32 and she looks 15 years older than me. Wtf.

She's a disgusting human, btw. Please may the justice treat her for what she is, a sex offender, and not for what they see, a lambda helpless woman.

why are females never labeled as child molesters when they clearly are? wtf is wrong with the world

45

u/Coraldiamond192 May 08 '24

The law in the UK where this case is outdated. It says you have to be raped by someone with a penis effectively. Therefore in this case they aren't calling her a rapist.

Either way let's hope she stays behind bars for as long as a man would.

Mentioned this about a month ago, but was is going on with the amount of female teachers boinking their students?

Last time I mentioned it, someone got up-in-arms about 'ITS NOT JUST THE WOMEN!!!'

And yes, I know that. But in the LAST 6 MONTHS ALONE, I've seen more than 4 dozen news articles about female teachers either banging their students or banging their children's friends.

And sadly, with every one of those articles, there's about 95 percent of the comments from some horned-up incel going 'GOD I WISH THAT WERE ME' or 'WHERE WAS SHE WHEN I WAS IN SCHOOL?!'

An underage boy is safer in the woods with a bear than in a classroom with a female teacher. 🤔

29

u/Ressamzade May 08 '24

I am having a hard time understanding why news refuse to use words like rape and sexual abuse when the perpetrator is a female teacher

17

u/The_Lapsed_Pacifist May 08 '24

Often it depends on the country or state and their legal definition of rape. But like you say, terms like abuse shouldn’t be a problem, there’s a definite soft pedalling when it comes to female perpetrators.

13

u/Superkritisk May 08 '24

In this case it's from England and the politicians have decided women can't rape men, because rape involves penetration by a penis, as set by their rules. So, the Sun or another publication can't say things like "Alleged rapist so and so" when it comes to women, as per law women can't rape you unless they use a tool to do so by penetrating you with it, and even then, I am unsure if they can be legally called rapists.

This is how I understand it, and what GPT explained to me as well.

The courts can't charge them for rape, nor can the publications say that they are rapists, as by law they are not. A law set in place by politicians.

If a male teacher did this with a 15 year old girl he would have been publicly lynched before the trial.

And this is why men ALSO choose the bear.

At least if a bear kills my son, I know the news report will actually use the word “kill” and not some fucking euphemism.

u/LegitimateHost5068 May 08 '24

As a former 15 year old boy, I would have loved for this to happen to me at 15, I had some hot teachers. As an almost 40 year old man, I see the reality that this is an adult preying on children who, because of their age and stage of puberty, are easy targets that would require no effort to manipulate. Hope she gets locked up for a long time.
