"Idiot kicker" - Peyton Manning

Fortunately for us, his kicks aren't wide right like his views

Goddamnit Bills fans catching strays in here even when it’s the Chiefs’ kicker being an ignorant jackass.

Your next GOP rep from Kansas(or Missouri), Harrison Butker!

581

u/banner8915 10d ago

He's already appeared in campaign ads for Trump endorsed candidates in MO.

727

u/banner8915 10d ago

Adding to this: the fact that he also called out Biden for not being a model Catholic in this same speech while the guy he's endorsed to replace him is literally sitting in a court room for paying a pornstar to keep his affair secret (among other things) is an insane display of hypocrisy and lack of self awareness. Wish I was surprised. Par the course for these types.

the actual transcript of what he said is 100x more insane than I imagined

He literally went to a graduation and straight up told the women that their purpose should be to serve their husbands and have a baby

The GOP is pro-birth, their policies after birth are definitely not pro-life.

161

u/Sea_Honey7133 10d ago

As George Carlin once remarked, the Republicans are there to protect your rights and fight for your existence right up until the moment you are born. Then f- you, you’re on your own!

51

u/Vuronov 10d ago

And they’ll blame you and your mom for being born without proper resources and being a “drain” on them despite not allowing any other options.

96

u/sj79 Minnesota Wild 10d ago edited 9d ago

Boy, these conservatives are really something, aren’t they? They’re all in favor of the unborn. They will do anything for the unborn. But once you’re born, you’re on your own. Pro-life conservatives are obsessed with the fetus from conception to nine months. After that, they don’t want to know about you. They don’t want to hear from you. No nothing. No neonatal care, no day care, no head start, no school lunch, no food stamps, no welfare, no nothing. If you’re preborn, you’re fine; if you’re preschool, you’re fucked.

Conservatives don’t give a shit about you until you reach “military age”. Then they think you are just fine. Just what they’ve been looking for. Conservatives want live babies so they can raise them to be dead soldiers. Pro-life… pro-life… These people aren’t pro-life, they’re killing doctors! What kind of pro-life is that? What, they’ll do anything they can to save a fetus but if it grows up to be a doctor they just might have to kill it? They’re not pro-life. You know what they are? They’re anti-woman. Simple as it gets, anti-woman. They don’t like them. They don’t like women. They believe a woman’s primary role is to function as a brood mare for the state.

Edit:

How come when it’s us, it’s an abortion, and when it’s a chicken, it’s an omelette? Are we so much better than chickens all of a sudden? When did this happen, that we passed chickens in goodness? Name six ways we’re better than chickens…

See, nobody can do it! You know why? ‘Cuz chickens are decent people. You don’t see chickens hanging around in drug gangs, do you? No, you don’t see a chicken strapping some guy to a chair and hooking up his nuts to a car battery, do you? When’s the last chicken you heard about came home from work and beat the shit out of his hen, huh? Doesn’t happen. ‘Cuz chickens are decent people.

But let’s get back to this abortion shit. Now, is a fetus a human being? This seems to be the central question. Well, if a fetus is a human being, how come the census doesn’t count them? If a fetus is a human being, how come when there’s a miscarriage they don’t have a funeral? If a fetus is a human being, how come people say “we have two children and one on the way” instead of saying “we have three children?” People say life begins at conception, I say life began about a billion years ago and it’s a continuous process. Continuous, just keeps rolling along. Rolling, rolling, rolling along.

See the really hardcore people will tell you life begins at fertilization. Fertilization, when the sperm fertilizes the egg. Which is usually a few moments after the man says “Gee, honey, I was going to pull out but the phone rang and it startled me.” Fertilization.

But even after the egg is fertilized, it’s still six or seven days before it reaches the uterus and pregnancy begins, and not every egg makes it that far. Eighty percent of a woman’s fertilized eggs are rinsed and flushed out of her body once a month during those delightful few days she has. They wind up on sanitary napkins, and yet they are fertilized eggs. So basically what these anti-abortion people are telling us is that any woman who’s had more than more than one period is a serial killer!

Consistency. Consistency. Hey, hey, if they really want to get serious, what about all the sperm that are wasted when the state executes a condemned man, one of these pro-life guys who’s watching cums in his pants, huh? Here’s a guy standing over there with his jockey shorts full of little Vinnies and Debbies, and nobody’s saying a word to the guy. Not every ejaculation deserves a name.

Now, speaking of consistency, Catholics, which I was until I reached the age of reason, Catholics and other Christians are against abortions, and they’re against homosexuals. Well who has less abortions than homosexuals?! Leave these fucking people alone, for Christ sakes! Here is an entire class of people guaranteed never to have an abortion! And the Catholics and Christians are just tossing them aside! You’d think they’d make natural allies. Go look for consistency in religion.

And speaking of my friends the Catholics, when John Cardinal O’Connor of New York and some of these other Cardinals and Bishops have experienced their first pregnancies and their first labor pains and they’ve raised a couple of children on minimum wage, then I’ll be glad to hear what they have to say about abortion. I’m sure it’ll be interesting. Enlightening, too. But, in the meantime what they ought to be doing is telling these priests who took a vow of chastity to keep their hands off the altar boys! Keep your hands to yourself, Father! You know? When Jesus said “Suffer the little children come unto me”, that’s not what he was talking about!

So you know what I tell these anti-abortion people? I say “Hey. Hey. If you think a fetus is more important then a woman, try getting a fetus to wash the shit stains out of your underwear. For no pay and no pension.”

They’re forced birth. They’re not pro anything other than making billionaires richer.

73

u/hrakkari 10d ago

Calling them pro birth is still too charitable. Even when the fetus is non viable, they still don’t want women to have the ability to choose. They want women to be slaves. They were pro slavery and they never stopped.

18

u/Hansmolemon 10d ago

Let’s face it, they are not pro-life, they are not pro-birth, they are not pro-natal they are straight up pro-poverty. They need their poor working class population for cheap labor and to consume goods. The best way to keep people poor is eliminate sex education, eliminate access to birth control and make them have babies when they are in an unstable financial position. Good luck furthering your education or skills when all the spare time you have from working one or more minimum wage jobs is taken up with child care because you can’t afford to pay for it. Why do you think they hate educated and working women who put off having babies until their thirties.

Nothing wrong with being a homemaker. But, that being the only role a woman can take is stepping back 60 yrs. Shit, my mom worked 60 hr weeks for over a decade while taking care of my sister and I. Taking on multiple roles is the reality for most parents theses days.

Which brings me to my point, that this douchenozzle misses...its a lot fucking easier for a person to be a "homemaker" when their spouse brings in several millions a year.

I'd give almost anything to have been able to allow my wife to stay at home when my kids were very young.

29

u/bilboafromboston 10d ago

Mohammed's mother had a business. Well documented. Why he had the time and $ to wander around. Mary Magdeline was not a prostitute. The early church confused several " mary's" . Like assuming every "Kathy " today was the same person. Or John. She was a very wealthy businesswoman and the prime $$ source for the apostles AND Paul.

Talking about Christianity being the counterculture, and how their faith goes against the "tyranny of diversity, equity, and inclusion". Get a grip you man-child

Edit: another great one that's quoted in the article, when talking about being proud:

“Not the deadly sins sort of Pride that has an entire month dedicated to it, but the true God-centered pride that is cooperating with the holy ghost to glorify him.”

He doesn't mind that they've graduated. He minds that they might want to go on to become teachers, lawyers, artists, writers, middle managers, construction workers… graduating is fine, but the only subjects taught to the lesser sex should be cleaning, cooking, sewing, procreative sex, nappy-changing, and submission to men. A lot of people would love to have a stay at home parent to help raise their kids and take care of the house. It’s just not financially feasible for most people.

My mother didn't work full-time until the mid-late 80s. Before that, my father supported her and their two kids on a mechanic salary. It is WILD how much things have changed in only 40 years, and how much of it is Reagan's fault.

I just checked the website and there are at least 5 women in the front office staff. Imagine working your way up to the top of a professional sports team, to be a part of the 20-30 person group in charge of running an multi-billion dollar organization like an NFL team. Your team just won the biggest championship in the sport...

And then some kicker essentially says, "That's cute.... you should go back into the kitchen and vacuum something, so you can truly serve your purpose."

Good example of someone who does something particularly well that doesn't deserve to have a platform beyond that area. I think athletes in particular are major pitfalls when it comes to someone way out of their lane who now has a very public platform to influence people/things.

Not to mention, the Chiefs team, ownership, and arguably fandom, is filled with a bunch of assholes. That's not exclusive to the Chiefs just the topic at hand. Mahomes might be the only moderately respectable, notable, player on the team.

Chiefs have just won so they are getting a platform to display their douchebaggery.

“Our army manned the air, it rammed the ramparts, it took over the airports, it did everything it had to do, and at Fort McHenry, under the rockets’ red glare, it had nothing but victory,”

-Donald Trump, twice impeached ex-president of the US and self proclaimed genius, who is currently on trial for campaign finance fraud, speaking in 2019 about the US revolution against the British, a war fought from 1775 to 1783, 15 years before Fort McHenry was built, about a battle (and song) that didn’t happen until 1814, nearly 30 years after the US revolution ended.

I love football but it blows my mind people sometimes don’t seem to remember these are guys with mostly very easy/incomplete college careers who only got rich and famous because of their remarkable ability to play a very violent game that often results in bad brain damage. It’s hilarious when people act shocked when they sometimes say stupid stuff. It reminds me of when people acted appalled when the fuckin duck dynasty guys said they didn’t like gay marriage. Like do you not see who these people are? Why are you putting so much weight into their words?

What a piece of shit. These women are graduating college and you’re telling them, in their graduation speech, that all they should aspire to do is be a homemaker. After quoting Taylor Swift. Who is a huge businesswoman, unmarried and would be appalled by that. Wild.

Hopefully I won't have to worry about that though because I'm raising him to respect women, and stay out of their way while they're in the kitchen.

Benedictine College is in Kansas. Not wildly different but just stating facts.

Funnily enough, Kansas legalized abortion and Missouri will have the chance to, pending state leadership fuckery, very likely do the same in November. The citizen initiative passed with double the required signatures with a massively truncated lead time (hurdles thrown by secretary of state). Just one of many things this piece of shit rambled against which the average person doesn't agree with.

Ok so these are some pretty nasty views. The real tacky part is that this was all from a commencement speech.

It’s beyond cringe to use a commencement speech as an opportunity to spout politically charged hateful nonsense. He’s far from the first person to do this, but what a waste. Like tell these kids some shit about success, hard work, yada yada. Save the unhinged garbage for social media or some other platform.

126

u/jbcmh81 10d ago

Christian college, so it was likely the exact type of speech they hired him to make.

56

u/GlandyThunderbundle 10d ago

Catholic, which tends to be less edgelord these days, but… yeah. Sounds like it wasn’t well-received by the graduating class, either.

42

u/BradMarchandsNose Connecticut 10d ago

I mean, it really depends on the type of Catholic. Jesuits, who run schools like Boston College, Georgetown, and Fordham (to name a few) tend to be on the liberal side. This school is run by Benedictines which don’t have a centralized leadership. They tend to be more conservative, but the degree of conservatism varies. Given that this is in Kansas, and Butker was advocating for the Latin Mass, I would guess that they are more Traditional Catholic, which is like the ultra conservative side of things. These are the people who believe the pope is too liberal.

5

u/thejak32 10d ago

Some of my good friends from high school went there and I spent a lot of time visiting them, this place is completely traditional Catholics. Every woman I know that graduated there is a stay at home mom with 5+ kids and the only woman I know married to a guy who went there that works is my buddies wife and she is a teacher...with 5+ kids. They are the epitome of the traditional Catholics and are all very republican, so they probably loved this speech.

u/WHAT_DID_YOU_DO 10d ago

That university is also a true Catholic university. There are universities that are Catholic and Catholic universities.(source went to a uni that was Catholic and knew people who went to Benedictine)

14

u/a_phantom_limb 10d ago

He also took a large chunk of his speech to speak directly to the women in the audience. He said that while many of them likely are excited to start a career and get promotions, they should instead consider the only vocation that will make them most happy: homemaker.
“I can tell you that my beautiful wife, Isabelle, would be the first to say that her life truly started when she began living her vocation as a wife and a mother. I’m on this stage, and able to be the man I am, because I have a wife who leans into her vocation.
“I’m beyond blessed with the many talents god has given me, but it cannot be overstated that all of my success is made possible because a girl I met in band class back in middle school would convert to the faith, become my wife, and embrace one of the most important titles of all: homemaker.”
This was just after quoting Taylor Swift, the girlfriend of his Chiefs teammate. He just had to get that Swift-song quote in, even if it was on loan from someone else.
A large part of his speech was about people in life “staying in their lane,” centering much of that conversation on “leaders.” It certainly seems clear that Butker thinks the “lane” for women is between a refrigerator and an oven.

Absolute vomit. Fuck that guy.

9

u/Anathemare 10d ago

Love these guys who want to take us back to the “good old days” when it comes to folks they don’t like (women, LGBT, people of color, etc), but never themselves. Maybe someone should remind him that back in those “good old days”, before social progress (and the players’ union), football players (especially kickers!) made next to nothing and had to have second jobs in the offseason because the owners kept everything. But I’m sure he’s not interested in any kind of pesky fact that gets in the way of his view of the soclal order.

84

u/dsswill 10d ago

What a complete POS. Not only a bigot but taking away from such an exciting day for so many of the young women in attendance on one of the biggest days of their lives to-date.

53

u/DevilInnaDonut 10d ago edited 10d ago

It’s not like he went on some random tirade that was out of place for the setting. This school invited him because they love hearing this kinda shit and it perfectly aligns with the way they think. He got cheers for this. If any women in attendance found what he said offensive maybe they should reevaluate why they wanted to pay thousands of dollars to finance an institution that holds those views instead of at a normal college that doesn’t have a backwards view of the world. Or reevaluate why they’re fine with the racism, homophobia, and transphobia in his speech (he hit all of these points separately, impressively enough) but it crosses a line when it’s pointed at them. It’s not like they were unfamiliar with the views before they got there, it’s a private fire and brimstone Christian school. It’s like going to NYU and being surprised they’re liberal
