The progression from a weighted blanket to the ultimate comfort of a human blanket shows that sometimes the best remedy is just having someone there to squash you gently like a loving panini

14

u/Spongi 9d ago

Yup, this is what I like but my wife is the exact opposite. She'd have a panic attack if this was done to her.

u/Lejonhufvud 9d ago

Reminds me of that CSI episode, where the guy is killed by an extra sized lady who falls asleep on him after sex.

1

u/Proper_Lunch_3640 9d ago

Well, that and for some reason, I can't find a weighted blanket that's larger than a towel.

1

u/laz2727 9d ago

The original weighted blanket.

u/DayTraditional2846 9d ago

I gotta try a weighted blanket

14

u/Fearless-Scar7086 9d ago

Cheaper than a girlfriend I guess because I’m homeless so I no can afford :(

27

u/Next_Cherry5135 9d ago

Have you considered a boyfriend? They are substantially cheaper and easier to come by as a homeless

17

u/Fearless-Scar7086 9d ago

I keep pray to god make me gay but he said there was no waaay

Isnt that how Dahmer's first victim got got? /s

5

u/CabbageStockExchange 9d ago

Unironically a game changer. Helped my sleep massively

2

u/DayTraditional2846 9d ago

That’s what I suspected. I figured that it probably helps people sleep better. I definitely gotta order one now. I either take too long to fall asleep or wake up randomly in the middle of the night.

1

u/Nebula-Dot 9d ago

It’s the best thing EVER!

1

u/HotdogTester 9d ago

A solid investment. They usually range from $80-200 but usually the heavier the more expensive.

u/Little_Green_Frind 9d ago

Can someone explain to me why people want another person to lay on them like that? I never understood it.

65

u/Alexizking 9d ago

Because some people enjoy the pressure and sometimes it can feel nice feel someone's arms around you

15

u/Little_Green_Frind 9d ago

Hmm I see, never understood why my ex wanted me to lay on top of her but never questioned it either lol

9

u/NaturalNotice82 9d ago

The last thing I want when I'm upset is to be touched so I find it weird too

1

u/effusivefugitive 9d ago

I'm with you. My GF always wants me to lie on top of her but I tried one of her weighted blankets once and couldn't get out fast enough.

0

u/Fun_Ad_2607 9d ago

It’s also kinda sexual, but this meme was sweet

4

u/CrazyMeasurement8856 9d ago

No it isn't, atleast not always.

2

u/youstupidcorn 9d ago

Ehh I guess for some people it can be, but for me it's not sexual at all. This is something that only really helps if I'm super, super stressed (or when the depression hits extra hard), and usually sex is the absolute last thing on my mind in those times. It's just kind of comforting to have another person... squish you. It's like a more intense form of cuddling, I guess.

0

u/dtsm_ 9d ago

It doesn't always have to be sexual. Some people confuse intimate for sexual often

2

u/Firexio69 9d ago

I am some people

6

u/Its0nlyRocketScience 9d ago

The physical contact and feel of another person can be very comforting. The pressure from it can give a sense of being secure and safe

5

u/rudimentary-north 9d ago

I think it’s kinda like white noise but for physical touch. Drowns out the other stuff.

3

u/Give_her_the_beans 9d ago

Exactly! I also pink and brown noise 24/7 in my bedroom. I live next to railroad tracks and a rock processing plant. My bed might shake but at least I don't hear the machinery in my safe room.

u/ytatyvm 9d ago

Fetal position and being enclosed in a tight space. Like in a uterus.

Or a butt-hole.

ELI5 human touch

1

u/Glitchy__Guy 9d ago

I don't know. Being wrapped up and pinned down sounds horrible to me.

1

u/Ianoren 9d ago

Typically you don't put all your weight on another person but even with a majority of it, when its spread out, its not like its painful/crushing.

Why does weight make ya feel better sometimes?

5

u/GriffMarcson 9d ago

I'm no expert, but I've heard weighted blankets simulate the sensation of being hugged, which triggers the release of H A P P Y C H E M I C A L S.

3

u/fjudgeee 9d ago

Seems like I’m broke. I hate it when my wife lays on me… like I can’t fucking move. She’s only like 55kg and I’m 100 but still I can’t.

Also if there was a way to sleep without a blanked without being cold, I’d really appreciate that. But I also want my windows open during sleep to get fresh air in, seems like I’m screwed.

1

u/thatshygirl06 9d ago

Reminds you of the womb

0

u/MAGA-Godzilla 9d ago

I would love to see research showing this and not just people saying it.

You’re doin good work, my dude!

5

u/coulduseafriend99 9d ago

One time I was talking to a girl on the phone, she fell asleep while we were talking so her phone was right up next to her face. The sound of her breathing was as loud through the phone as if she had been directly breathing in my ear, and it was the most calming sensation I've ever experienced.

Maybe it "grounds" you, showing you in the most tactile sense possible that you are here, you are now, and I am here with you; my weight and warmth are greater than any imagined threat

2

u/MrXaryon 9d ago

I don't have anyone to comfort me like this.

2

u/Gadgetmouse12 9d ago

Safety. When wrapped in compression it makes a person feel protected.

2

u/nerogamer_279 9d ago

cinder block

Is this heavy enought?

2

u/MechAegis 9d ago

How much different is a Weighted Blanket from a regular large Comforter?

What's the procedure for washing it?

1

u/Cymric814 9d ago

Mine has an outer covering, think along the lines of a pillow slip. The actual weighted part has loops the cover ties onto before zipping it closed.

I unzip and untie the string/loops and throw the cover in the washer with other blankets.

People blanket is where it’s at

1

u/Delirare 9d ago

What is this obsession with weighted blankets? I keep seeing posts and adverts, but apperently they have been a thing for years now?

2

u/[deleted] 9d ago

Too many people acting like they got mental health issues online so they can fit in.

1

u/RachelMakesThings 9d ago

Or maybe a lot of people who do struggle with these issues tend to be people also online more, so you just see more of those things represented here. A lot of people struggling with mental illness seek out others like them online!

1

u/AnEmancipatedSpambot 9d ago

There is something about having that weight on you that helps with depression.

I mean its probably the oxy i know. But having that pressure on you helps relieve pressure.

My new partner has chronic fatigue syndrome. There are some days all we do is lay in bed. Them wrapped around me, me reading comics on my tablet. It works out well for both of us.

1

u/Plisskensington 9d ago

This comic exactly explains what is heroin like.

1

u/jackdhammer 9d ago

1

u/TheEndIsHere_repent 9d ago

I'm more like a dieing cat when the panic attacks kick in. I go hide alone, preferably in the dark

1

u/NefariousnessOwn9963 9d ago

What an odd day to have eyes

1

u/Spirited-Tourist-4 9d ago

Lmao my one left me

1

u/Small_Distribution17 9d ago

There’s a comic like this where it ends with the human burrito getting dicked down. -_-

1

u/GreasyMcNasty 9d ago

Yeah I try that and I get kicked off for breathing too loudly.....

1

u/upyoars 9d ago

Why did the draw the man so well but made the woman’s face look like a pig?

1

u/cutiepathooti 9d ago

🙂🙂

1

u/Beautiful-Copy-3486 9d ago

More feminization of men.

1

u/RachelMakesThings 9d ago

Is it... Is it feminine to do things to care about your partner's well being? Lmao, what? Such a wild claim

1

u/pc_magas 9d ago

I knwo the feeling it feels like you are making a cocoon for the other that shelters it....

Similar feeling I get when I want to embrace women that wear with clothes with shoulders out. It feels like as asking you for your wamrth.

1

u/getyourshittogether7 9d ago

Don't forget to be there for yourself, too. <3

1

u/ReadingUnique 9d ago

Know what? Laying under a blanket and having someone cuddle up to you is not some esoteric experience.

1

u/GMDdhg 9d ago

Are men allowed to need a hug once in a while too?

-1

u/jackdhammer 9d ago

No. Just deal.

-1

u/Desperadouzz 9d ago

pathetic

0

u/angrytroll123 9d ago

Whenever I do this my wife complains because of the weight.

0

u/kulakilla 9d ago

No, run from this girl

-2

u/Icarium14743 9d ago

It’s not the men leaving marriages 80% of the time

1

u/ilmk9396 9d ago

It's usually the man's fault the woman wants to leave

-4

u/Fluid-Arachnid-8716 9d ago

Why they're never there for us

-1

u/USpezsMom 9d ago

How’s this?…

ejaculates

-2

u/beetjemeh 9d ago

Nuh uh leave me alone, being in my vicinity while I'm panicking is not bettering the situation

-8

u/Dry_Meat_2959 9d ago

Now reverse the roles and see how much hate this gets.

5

u/NoNipNicCage 9d ago

Why would it get hate?

1

u/ghostsinthecodes 9d ago

i don’t necessarily want my partner—on top—on top of me, but nice and close with an arm around each other and maybe her leg thrown over the top of mine is def the way.
